Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
My 17 year old son was arrested for selling pot last year on Long Island, NY and was sentenced to 100 hours of community service which he has completed. Our lawyer told us his record has been wiped clean now because of his age. My question is, while filling out applications for colleges or jobs, does he answer yes or no to "Have you ever been convicted of a crime?" if his record has been "wiped clean"? Thank you.

If he was granted a youthful offeneder adjudication, the criminal conviction would have been replaced with a noncriminal disposition. Therefore if his case was a YO , he can answer that he has not been convicted of a crime.
