Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I was accused with shoplifting in the store i worked for. The LP and the manager we're the ones to talk to me and had me fill out a few forms and took all of my information down. No police were called to the store and they said they would keep it a private matter between the store and i. they said i had to pay a total of $180 to the store and i paid the amount in full 2 days later. All of this happened in happened in june. now its august and i have received a civil demand from the company for a total of $500. i paid it completely a few days later after i received the letter. i spoke to a person from the law firm that send the letter and they said that once the amount was paid that the case would be closed. now my question, is anything else going to happen after i had paid the civil demand? and since the police was never involved then and still hasn't been till this day, can that change?

Although they are permitted to prosecute up to three year, they probably will not. Don't go near the store anymore and don't ask them for a reference.
