What happens when you get a ACD

If someone has a charge pending and they get off probation and then they get an ACD, what exactly does that mean. I've heard of getting a CD or atleast I think I have. Conditional Discharge but I am not sure what an ACD is or does to the the Charge. Can you get the charge removed from your records if you get an ACD?

Re: What happens when you get a ACD

ACD stands for "Adjournment In Contemplation of Dismissal".

What this means is: The case is adjourned for 6 months [or 12 mos., if a domestic-type case] -- then, if the person has not been arrested on any new charges and stayed out of trouble, the charge is automatically dismissed. The person doesn't even have to return to court; the charge is dismissed automatically on the 6-month date.
