Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

What is an ACD?

Does an ACD mean that if i get a summons for anything else minor like possession of alcohol, or loitering, or a speeding ticket, that the case can be brought back into the court? I don't understand this, and is there anyway to speed up the process because i need to get it off my record as soon as possible for i need to get a internship or a job for my next year in college.

Re: What is an ACD?

An ACD (or ACOD on Long Island) is a disposition of a case wherein your case is adjourned in contemplation of a Dismissal (hence the initials.)

Technically, any violation of the law could cause the District Attorney's office to restore the case to the position it was in on the day the case was ACD. The likelihood of that is very low. Usually the case would only be reopened for a violent misdemeanor or a felony arrest.
