Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
If i admitted to stealing someones property and accept the offer to pay them back to avoid a record do i now have one untill they tell the judge the amount i have to pay back?

If you have been accused of shoplifting or petit larceny (petty theft), any agreement between you and the store or property owner does not necessarily affect the ability of the judge or DA to prosecute you. You should certainly speak with a criminal defense attorney.
