Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
My adult son has been charged with reckless endangerment, setting off firecrackers in our home. He has a history of mental/alcohol issues and was, at the time, beyond drunk. I have no problem with the jail time until court, but am concerned that what he needs (treatment long term) may not be an option. This is a first time for him in this situation. He has no viable income. How does one "speak" to the court?

You should speak with his attorney who will advocate to the Court. There are many diversion programss out there which mandate treatment for defendants. Some drug and alcohol and some mental health treatment. This seems like the avenue the case should take.
Good Luck
