Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Agravated Harassment

How much time am I facing if convicted of Agravated Harassment? What happened is I called my ex's mother. She taped me with a recorder. I only asked how my daughter was doing and she hung up. She went to the police and told them that I called once before and was told not to call again. Because of that I was charged with Agravated Harrassment.

Aggravated harassment is an A misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of 1 year in jail. It is unlikely that you would face a jail sentence under the facts you have presented, but you should speak with an attorney to get a more accurate answer.

Re: Agravated Harassment

Aggravated harassment is a class a misdemeanor punishable by 1 year in jail. That is highly unlikely for a first offender . It will most likely be plea-bargained by a skillful criminal defense attorney to a substantially lessor charge with no jail time .
