Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

i answered a posting on craigslist for a free dog .i then go out the dog .after having the dog a few hours at home ,i opened my email and the lady who gave me the dog ,sent a long email stating she wanted to dog back ,she made the wrong decision .i did not reply .does she have any legal right to get this dog back .nothing was written down ,and a drove there with a friend but she sat in my car while i picked up the dog .she did help me carry the dog 's food and bowls etc. out to my car .

she has texted me stated she would do anything to get her dog back .i also feel she should not get this dog back ,it came with toe nails so long the dog can barely walk far without limping .should take pics before i get her nails done tomorrow .anyways worried she has any legal rights to get the dog back .it was posted on craigslist for free.no money was exchanged .please let me know as soon as possible .thank you

I hope you can print out the original offer and all subsequent communications for your protection. She has no right to have the dog back.
