Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Arraignment Question

I Received a letter stating that i failed to appear for an arraignment and that a warrant will be issued if i do not appear by thursday. Is an arraingment a criminal charge? Should i have been told or served with something telling me that i should have been in court on a certain day? Could this be related to a traffic ticket that i allready paid and appealed over the phone asking for a hearing, or is this criminal related most likely? What is an arraignment? Thank you very much for your time.

Re: Arraignment Question

An arrainment is when you enter a plea on a criminal charge. You must appear to enter a plea or a warrant for your arrest will ensue. Re: Arraignment Question

arraignment is when you go to court an enter either a pleaa of guilty or not guilty to a criminal charge. you may have been mailed a summons before or given one and missed the previous court date. now that you have notice you should go and clear it up. other wise a warrant will issue and you will get picked up and go to jail. im sure its nothing to serious
