Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
was arrested for petit larceny 9 years ago. the charges were dropped to disorderly conduct and received 2 days community service and 1 year conditional discharge. that was my one and only arrest. i want to be a teacher and a question on the fingerprinting application states "have you ever been convicted of or pled guilty to any offense? (note: you are not required to disclose offenses that have been dismissed or sealed)". Do I respond yes or no? I am in NY.

Disorderly conduct is an violation not a crime. However it may turn up in a background check , so I might honestly disclose the facts as you have stated.
