Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
i have an assault three charge
I want to know what is going to happen to me when i go back to court, i have a good city job and i don't want to lose my job for what had happen. This is what happen. Me and my boyfriend was arguing he had broken the house phone so I couldn't call my girlfriend so she can hear what was going on then he broke my cell phone for the same reasons and I had recordings of him telling me that he was going to punch me in the face. he had started to yell at me in my face that I can feel his spit in my face and I asked him if he can get out of my face because I felt like I was getting paranoid I felt like I was in a corner and then he raised his hand up to hit me so I had punched him in the face and ran out the house. and we both call the cops but the cops had arrested me because he was bleeding but when I realized that I had punch him I look at him and then grabbed the other cell phone and put my phone chip in it to call the cops and he wasn't bleeding I am a female and I don't think that I had punch him that hard to make him bleed I feel like he cut himself so when the cops came that they can arrest me. And the cops told me that I should have let him hit me

This is too complex to discuss via the internet. You should retain a competent criminal defense attornet ASAP. I would be happy to discuss the facts and possible outcomes with you. Please call my office @7188340087 for a free phone consultation.
Re: i have an assault three charge
It all depends if your boyfriend is cooperative with the DA's office and/or if their were other witnesses that saw what happened. A lot of these domestic violence cases can result in a positive resolution if you have a competant attorney to represent you and research the possible consequences of your plea. If you would like to speak to an attorney familiar with this area, please feel free to contact us at Cohen & Fitch LLP. Thank you.

Since you are employed with the city you should retain an attorney to represent you right away. Depending on the agency you work for even the best disposition can still result in you losing your job, which means you may have to go to trial on this case. Please feel free to contact my office if we may be of any assistance in this matter.
