Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Assault on a Minor
I am a 16 year-old college student in New York. I was recently assaulted by a 31 year-old married man. The problem is, I was drinking alcohol at the time, and if I were to get caught, I'd lose my scholarship. My question is: Is there anyway of achieving any type of justice without me being at fault?
P.S. - He was serving me alcohol at his restaurant.

Re: Assault on a Minor
You can press criminal charges and/or you can sue for damages is there are any injuries that warrant it (assuming he has assets to collect). Under either case, the fact that you were drinking will likely come out. I handle these type of cases so if you were injured, please feel free to contact me. The above is for informational purposes only and not meant as legal adivce. Good luck.

You may have far more to lose than to gain. It may be best to let sleeping dogs lie.
Good luck.
Re: Assault on a Minor
Why do you presume you will be dropped from your scholarship just for drinking, especially if you wer put in this situation by someone with direct intent to cause you phyiscal harm.
