Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
If my attorney is taking too long to issue subpoenas (a month so far), as the defendant, can I write up and/or issue them myself? If so, how do I do this? Can I hire my own outside paralegal or assistant to help my lawyer with my case?

You do not have the authority to issue subpoenas. Only an attorney or a judge can issue subpoenas or you as an individual can request that the court issue them. In your case since you are represented, the court will not take that action. Your best bet is to talk to your attorney and if that does not accomplish what you want then change attorneys.
