Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I am in a very bad money position on cash assistance but very little i saw a purse with a debit card just hangin out and took it i went to target and charged and amount of $194 of things i really needed the card had no signature and no see id on it i feel like a scum bag and a loser and just awful i am in therapy and have severe depression and emotional issues of which i am on meds for no excuses i am horrified and never have done this before i feel terrible for doing this to this person and now am horrified at getting in trouble as well as they have cameras and all it was at night what should i do now i am simply beside myself i want to just die

If your question is "have you committed a crime" then yes you have and you can be charged for it. When talking with the police, do not make any statements at all until they provide you with an attorney which is your right if you are indeed indigent. Your attorney can then advise you in proceeding from there.
