bar exam
Can someone who has been convicted of a felony and served time still take the bar exam upon completion of a law degree?

Yes. However, that is not the last step to becoming an admitted attorney. Assuming that a convicted felon passes the bar exam, that person then has to apply for admission to the bar. The Character and Fitness Committee then makes a determination. It is highly unlikely that someone with a felony conviction would pass the Committee. Ultimatley, the Appellate Division would decide the issue. I seem to recall the Congresswomen Ferraro's son passed the bar after having a drug felony conviction in Vermont. I can't recall if he was admitted to the bar but he might have been.
