Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
My bf is being charged with attempted murder he's guilty and we hired a lawyer the lawyer isnt doing much to help out doesn't return phone calls and doesn't show up to court. We want to fire him get the money back and hire someone else , is that possible and what kind of bargain shld my boyfriend take if that isn't possible.

What, if anything, you can get back depends on what the retainer says. Many retainers have a minumum fee amount. It also depends on how much work he has done. Your boyfriend needs a new lawyer he can communicate with . Beyond that, the new lawyer would have to determine what refund he would be entitled to and if a complaint should be made to the Bar Association Grievance Committee.
