Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Black mail

My husband and his friend stole a car from my husbands ex boss. he found out and said the two of them owed him $1900 for the car and other money that was missing. (1000 for the car and 600 worth of money and 300 in work that a customer never paid for in car repairs). he demanded 1000 by the next day. he recieved it from myself and my husband and got a reciept that states no charges will be filed if all is paid back. now a month and a half later he is saying that dan my husband still owes him nearly 2000 because he cant find some of his stuff that was never at the shop in the first place. he is threatening to have me and my husband both arrested if it is not paid. ( me because i signed the reciept for the 600 payment, and put the money in the box). he had nothing to do with any thing but that van and we dont feel that we should have to pay for it but at the same time dont know what to do because we do not want to take a chance on him pressing charges. the other items he says are missing is a set of tires, tools, a replacement part for a customers car that he says never was replaced and it was...the customer saw him put it in, catillitic converters, a cell phone that was left and the boss states it wasnt. any advise

Re: Black mail

Get a good attorney and go to the police. Extortion is a crime. You do not have to wait until the exboss takes action.

Do not wait. Go asap.\\

Good Luck.
