Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Blackmailed by an ex

I'm currently attempting to break up with my girlfriend of 3 years, but she refuses to let me go. every time I attempt to leave her, she treatens to reveal information about my legal status, and now she is threatening to reveal some compromising information about a lot of people I care about. I just want her to stop, and to leave me and the people I care about alone. She is in a possition to ruin all of their lives, as well as mine. what can I do? I have considered recording our conversations as evidence, but I do not know if that is legal, since she is in Texas and I am in New York.

Re: Blackmailed by an ex

You should go to the police immediately. You are being blackmailed and it has to stop. The police will not turn you over to immigration.

Good luck.
