Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
a little boy set fire to my back porch intentionally and burned down my entire house, that I was renting without renters insurance, and everything in it. Am I entitled to something, possibly his parents insurance may cover, or would I have to sue and is that a civil matter or criminal

Well, the act of arson would be a criminal charge. You can speak with the District Attorney's office regarding victim compensation. If you want to sue the family civilly, you should check in the civil litigation section. The parents are not always held liable for a child's act. You also might see if you can get some compensation from your landlord's insurance company.
