Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
my boyfriend violated his probation his original sentence was 5yrs and he did 4 ..and now he got sent back to jail does he have to do the year left on his orginal sentence or will he get out early

If he was sentenced to 5 years probation, the Judge can release him immediately or hold him up to the maximum sentence allowed by law for the crime of which he was convicted -- notwithstanding his 4 good years on probation.
