Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

My brother was sentenced to 6 months of weekends friday to sunday, in jail and 3 years probation, he volated his probation by drinking alcohol, he went to court and asked the judge if he could go to rehab because he has a drinking problem, the judge denied the help and sent him to jail for 6 straight months, his probation officer had no idea this happened. The judge told him he could go in on friday like he was originally supposed to do for his weekends and come out 6 months later. When he got to jail friday night. 3 different CO's told him that he was getting releases sunday night and that they heard nothing on the 6 months, all they had on record was the weekends. So what does my brother do if he gets released on sunday?

It appears the sentence may not have been transmitted with the paperwork to the jail. If he is released he should contact his atty and turn himself back into the judge Monday morning.
