Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

burglary in the 2nd

My son 21 was just arrested in burglary in the 2nd and 3rd. He drove the individual. Never left the vehicle. When questioned he was cooperative and said to be alot of help. Could these charges get lowered. How much time is he facing. What would be the chance at house arrest?

Re: burglary in the 2nd

Your son has a serious problem. It is not how long he would get in jail, it is he would have a criminal record which would last forever. What is more it would be a FELONY record which would bar him from much employment, leaving the country, licenses etc.

He could get several years in jail besides.

I am afraid that giving cooperation may have given the police all they needed to arrest him.

There is an old saying - even the biggest fish does not get caught if he doesn't open up his mouth.
