Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Car Impounded as Evidence

Ilent my car to my boyfriend who used it in the commission of a crime. It has been impounded for 5 weeks as ''evidence''...I can't go to work or school without asking a friend. What can I do to get it back? The District Attorney in Suffolk County won't speak to me because I'm not a lawyer, but I'm a student and can't afford one.

Re: Car Impounded as Evidence

My office regularly assista clients with matters like these. You can get your car back but it is a process, one which may take several weeks to complete. It is very difficult for a non attorney as one of the things required would be a release from the District Attorney's office, which as you've said you have had no luck in speaking to. They generally do not permit negotiations unless through an attorney, and there are no organizations that i know of that do this sort of service pro-bono so you're stuck with having to hire an attorney to do this for you, sorry to tell you.

However,my office charges nominal fees for this service feel free to contact us regarding this or any other matter #2127098303
