Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

car theft

I parked my car in a parking lot one night and the following morning my car and keys were handed to someone else. my court date is tomorrow. Do you think it is completely necessary for me to be accompanied by a lawyer?

Re: car theft

Your question was not clear. If it was your car that was stolen and you're NOT THE DEFENDANT and you're asking if it is necessary to have your own private attorney present in CRIMINAL court, the answer is no. It's not necessary because criminal cases are prosecuted by district/village/town attorneys.

If you meant something else, you should clarify what you meant and re-post your question.

Good luck!
