You may receive a summons or desk appearance ticket by mail requiring you to appear in criminal court based upon the documents you signed admitting to the theft. You may want to speak with a criminal defense lawyer in the event that this becomes a criminal matter.
Take a look at http://www.petit-larceny.com and use the contact form to speak with a New York shoplifting lawyer.
Good luck!
