Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

certificate of good conduct

i was recently issued a cert of good conduct allowing me to seek public office if i wish and my right to posess and or own a rifle or shotgun. Growing up in nyc i found trouble easily. in my mid 40's now and 20 yrs happily married with children my son expressed a desire to go hunting. I went into the local sporting goods store and was denied a long gun. I went through this whole process of meeting with parole officers and people visiting my house and meeting my family, and they finally gave me my certificate. I put in an application of appeal to the fbi nics section and was told to get my misdemeaners listed on the certificate. I called the clemency board of the syate of ny and was told they only list felonies on certs. thats all they need. they said this was illegal and that the fbi needed to address a letter to them stating what they need.I called the fbi and was told, ''we dont write letters''. I told the clemency board and they told me I needed a lawyer. What can I do?

thank you.

Re: certificate of good conduct

The best, and only, route to go on such a case is to hire an attorney and have them fight this case for you, it seems as if you are being denied a right constitutionally guaranteed and for reasons beyond the scope of the normal restrictions.

I am currently handling several discrimination and constitutional cases, it is an area of specialty for for along with criminal law.
