Re: Old Charge
Dear Reader:
In examining this response, please note that we are not entering into an attorney/client relationship, that this is to be taken as informative, and not as legal advice, that it is always best to speak to a lawyer in your area and/or in the area where the transaction and/or events occurred, and that my answer is necessarily limited by the fact that I have not seen the documentation or had an opportunity to go over the matters with you in detail.
You did not indicate whether the charges were still pending, or whether the case ended thru dismissal, trial or plea. Ordinarily, charges do not decrease simply because of time; you either pleaded or were convicted of something less that the original charge as the result of a plea bargain or the outcome of the trial, or the charges were reduced as the result of motions and/or decisions that someone made about your case way back when.
Note: if the charges are still pending after you were arrested, and the case never came to a complete end, you may be considered a fugitive. Hire a lawyer to look into this for you if you think this is a possibility.
As I mentioned before, this is something that you will want to take up with a lawyer of your own selection, either in your state or area or in a place where some of the pertinent events occurred.
