Being charged with assult 3rd

I was babysiting my 8yr old sister, we got into an argument and i threw somthing at her ,i didnt mean for it to but it hit her in the face and split her lip. there was a small bruse but no major injurie. the school questiond her about it then called the police who are now charging me with assault third. I am 15 and have no othe ofences ever . Should they be chargeing me and what can i do about it.

Babysitting cases are treated strongly because many babysitters have hurt children in the past, even killed them. The charge depends on what the accusation is, and the level of injury.
