Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
If you have charges, attempted assault, and the victim wants to drop charges what takes place or how do you go about this process?

You still need to go to Court on your court date. The victim can contact the District or Village attorney's office and let them know that they no longer wish to pursue the case but in the end, it is up to the DA's office -- not the victim -- to drop the charges.
