Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

not sure of charges

wondering what he statute of limitations is if my husband wanted to press charges on me for signing his bail check(he told me to sign and now that we are getting divorced. hes making like he didnt). it was signed in o5 or very begining of 06, there was no action for a divorce at this time.although we did not live together because an order of protection said he could not be there. the check was under 1000. dollors. at the worst and least what could the charges be. and wouldnt the money be considered both of ours?what about the fact that he told me to sign?

Re: not sure of charges

Statute of Limitations for a misdemeanor is 3 years, for a felony 5. You appear to be within the time frame.

The money belongs to the person who posted it. He can give you permission to sign it. I doubt he will get a lot of sympathy from police.

You should speak to a matrimonial lawyer about the matrimonial issues herein. If you are contacted by police do not say anything. ANYTHING beyond giving your name and address. Then tell them you have/want a lawyer. Better yet, set up a meeting with a criminal lawyer now and have him ready should police come knocking.

If you wish to contact me, give me a call or follow the links below.

Good luck.
