Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
I was chatting with someone one my facebook and said i was webcamming on yahoo messenger. She said okay and joined yahoo messenger since she wasnt a member. I thought she had said she was in her mid 20s but wasnt sure. She had two last names listed and figured she was divorced. I asked if she was legal age just to be sure. She said she was 20. I said ok. I said I could "wave hi" to her on cam. She asked "Wave hi?" and i said that i'll do whatever she wants.
So I went on yahoo, put on my cam and only showed my face. I did a search for her name and town she is from and noticed she is still in highschool. I freaked out! I said, "Sorry 20 is too young for me, I'm 36". I was afraid she could actually be younger than 20. Is there any way I can get in trouble for what I said? I'm not sure this was the same person on the search, so I didnt want to take any chances. I did not take any clothes off on cam or discuss any sex acts. I'm just freaking out here. I have no interest in minors. I removed this person from my facebook.

It is not against the law to communicate with someone underage. Always be careful what you say on the internet.
