Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Consequence of an Arrest Record with ADT sentence

Dear Sir or Madame,

I was arrested for shoplift a year ago. Because of my OCD and depression, the court gave me ADT (adjunct dismissal) result.

I was told this means I don't have criminal record but still have arrest record. How will this affect my future job application (financial companies requires fingerprint for security check). Will my record show up when I fingerprint with the employer? Is it possible to erase the arrest record (happens in NYC).

Thank you,

Re: Consequence of an Arrest Record with ADT sentence

I believe the disposition you received was an ACD, which means the charges are dismissed after 6 months if you have no further encounters with the criminal justice system. The record then is sealed, you never have had a conviction and you don't have to disclose any arrests unless you plead guilty or were convicted.
