Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

better to consolidate charges?

Would it be possible to consolidate 2 identical petit larceny charges of the same person into 1 case if the two charges happened only 5 days apart?

would it be better for a defendant to consolidate two charges into one or bad?

i mean if without consolidation, the accused would get 2 violation charges plus community service. but if consolidate two charges into one, would the accused be convicted a misdemeanor or only 1 violation+double amount of community service?

would it usually be good for the defendant to consolidate charges into one case or seperate them in different case?

thank you

Re: better to consolidate charges?

You should retain an attorney to advise you on this issue, since more information would be required in order to determine what you are hoping to accomplish by the consolidation.

This is a very good question, you are rightto seel help with it. Overall, it will really depend... it may not be completely necessary to do this... but, it may help, This all depends on multiple factors that any attorney would have to discuss with you before reaching such a conclusion, basically it would ned up being a decision of strategy to be discussed by you and yoru atotrney in gret length.
