Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
convicted of a crime I never pead guilty to or went to court over
1971 I was charged with posession of marijuanna - driving an unregistered vehicle - possesion of dangererous instument to use drugs - and possesion of a dangerous instument - I never appeared in court once - never pead to any charges - was never notified of any court proceedings of any kind whatsoever - over 30 years later just recently in a background search I find this conviction (1972) (a total of 4 offences) that I commited these offences - I never appeared before any judge, court room, or anyone to answer to these charges and now I find out that I have been convicted of these charges 33 years later without ever having been in any courtroom whatsoever.
there was no plea agreement - no nothing - this is the first I am aware of this - only because it came up in a background search - this is how I became aware of this.
