Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

I was convicted of a petit misdemeanor in New York State in 2004 and was put on probation with an ACD. It is my only legal transgression and now want to clean my record to avoid embarassment and more importantly get a better job. Thank you.

Your record should already be sealed, an ACD stands for Adjournment in Contemplation of Dismissal. Your case was dismissed. You can send to the New York State Department of Criminal Justice Services to get your record and see if it appears. You can download the following publication: http://www.lac.org/doc_library/lac/publications/NYS_Rap_Sheet_Final.pdf. That will give you instructions on doing what you want to do.
