Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
The cops came to my moms house and said that they had a search warrant looking for me, they recovered a bullet proof vest a little more then a half pound of weed, and 2 bibi guns that was locked in the safe, the last time ive been in trouble with the law was 2003, no open cases no parole or probation, ive been out of trouble since 2003, how much time im i looking at, and im i ititled to a program??

The sentencing range will depend on the charges as well as the specifics of your past record ( are their felonies or violent crimes etc...). There are however, legal issues which should be addressed. Was their a valid warrant? What was the scope of the permissable search? Did they have authorization to go into the safe? The law has recently changed and drug treatment programs are much more available. Lastly, an arrest warrant is directed towards a person, a serach warrant is directed towards premises.
