Re: Counts
A count is a charge. So two counts of murder means the defendant was charged with murder twice. This can either be because the defendant is accused of killing two different people or the defendant was charged with committing murder under two different theories. The number of counts is determined either by a prosecutor or in the case of a felony by a grand jury. Please contact my office if we can be of further assistance.
