Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
CPL 30.30 speedy trial
My understanding is that 30.30 allows 180 days to bring a case to trial. Now, if a person detained in jail, is there any special calculation for the days a person spent in jail? (i.e. every day spent in jail counts as X days toward that speedy trial limit etc.)

Its all about the prosecution. The prosecution must be ready for trial before 180 days chargeable to the prosecution pass.
The law addresses itself to 'prosecutorial laxity'.
