Re: credit card fraud

The statute of limitations for a criminal act in the state of New York is five (5) years from the date of the act. You should contact a lawyer as soon as possible and not make any statements to the police or anyone else concerning this matter. As far as establishing a defense, ask yourself, how will I prove that I acted at my friend's request? Is your friend willing to inform the Police that he/she requested that you co-sign and submit the credit card applications? If not, then you have a real problem and need legal representation right away. Another issue is whether or not you've used any of the credit cards. These are all things you may want to consider.

Re: credit card fraud

The statute of limitations depends on the offense charged. You should not speak with anybody concerning this matter, and you should seek legal counsel.
