Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

criminal check on citizenship application

So- i'm getting ready to submit my paperwork for citizenship- part of the application asks if i've done a crime i've never been arrested for/have i ever been arrested, cited or detained/ have i ever been charged with committing any crime or offence...

further down it asks me to list anything even if charges were dismissed/no charges filed etc...

here's my situation- i was cited for peeing in the street in nyc...got a citation- and was told to go to court...about a week before my court date i get a notice saying the case is dropped and not to bother showing up at court- all without me doing anything.

problem is, i don't recall the dates, and it was very minor...so

1. should i even include it

2. how do i go about finding out the date??

Re: criminal check on citizenship application

If the case was dismissed, you may be able to leave it off the application, but this depends on the way the question is worded. It is very important to submit truthful and accurate information in your citizenship application. For a small fee, we can help you check the court records to find out exactly what happened on your case.
