Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Criminal Contempt case (violation of order of protection)
My boyfriend is in Rikers under charges criminal contempt for violation of an order of protection. He's been in there since the middle of July. Not too long ago we discovered that the order of protection was expired since June. His court date is September 12. What do you suggest I do? Do you think they will give me a copy of the order of protection to give to a lawyer?

Hire an attorney immediately. He can get the OP from the court and file for a writ of Habeas corpus.
He may also have a civil right suit against a number of people.
