Criminal Law, Two week wiaver

Is signing a two week waiver during an arraignment a usual procedure? or unsual. What purpose does it serve?

Re: Criminal Law, Two week wiaver

Depending on which borough you were in this is sometimes general practice... In queens, this is almost always the case where such waivers are used...however, if you were released without bail what you 'waived' is technically not something which legally applied you you regardless... Under rule 180.80 (et al) if you are held in prison on.a felony charge, with bail, and the da's office does not present the case to the grand jury within 6 days they must release you without bail...

Much luck on the rest of your case, if you need counsel on this matter you may reach our office at 212.709.8303
