Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

Dear Sir / Ma'am,

I just got a ticket for violation of Sec 375 (h) / NYSPRL on a property closed to public at the state park in Queens, New York. I did not climb over a wall or fence. I just honestly did not see the signs and walked across the chain. I did not get arrested, but only received the aforementioned ticket. Tomorrow is the deadline for me to send a note to plea not guilty. Should I do it? I understand and will be entirely truthful, apologetic and deferential at the court. And the PO who gave me the ticket told me the mostly likely outcome would be a $25 fine if guilty as charged, but it was up to judge. However, will be there be any chance that my not-guilty plea will be accepted or have the case dismissed?

Thank you!

Although you received a ticket, which has a plea entry date, it is my experience these violations have a court appearance date on which you personally appear to answer the charges. On that date you can plead either guilty or not guilty and the process will begin. If you can not afford an attorney ,one will be provided. If you can I might suggest retaining a private attorney to protect your rights and interests. I would be happy to have a phone consultation, contact my office @7188340087.
