Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
detective are bothering me
A couple of weeks ago, i got a call from a detective from the D.A. office, he asked if i could meet him because he had some questions about phone calls made from my phone back in 2005. So i met with him and they showed me phone records, and said that this person to whom calls were made from my phone was in big trouble. I wasnt able to recall who this person was. So, this week they showed up at my house asking me the same questions again and before they left they said that they were going to have me come in and meet the A.D.A handling this case and pull out more of my phone records. I am getting really annoyed, i dont know who this person is that they are looking for. Can i deny meeting with them again? can they bother me like this when i already told them i dont know? what are my rights in such a situation?
Thank you

Re: detective are bothering me
I would recommend retaining a competent criminal defense attorney to intercede on your behalf. It must be determined whether you are being investigated as a possible suspect or as a person of interest/witness. Nevertheless I would not meet with an ADA without an attorney present. For more info you may contact my office @7188340087 for a free phone consultation.
Re: detective are bothering me
I would strongly recommend that you retain a qualified criminal defense attorney. Something seems a bit odd about the actions they are taking. I would refuse to answer questions until you have had a chance to consult with an attorney about your rights. You are under no obligation to go meet with the ADA, unless you are served with a subpoena. In any event you should retain an attorney to represent you and look out for your best interests. Please feel free to contact my office if we can be of any assistance in this matter.
Re: detective are bothering me
This is simple. Call a lawyer. He will tell them you are now represented by him and they are to stop communicating with you. IF they fail to stop, He will sue them. If they stop Problem solved. NEVER SPEAK TO THE POLICE WITHOUT AN ATTORNEY PRESENT. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ONE, THE COURT OFFICER WILL OFTEN GET YOU ONE.
Good luck.
