Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
Detective Called - DO I Go
A police detective called me and asked me to go to the precinct to talk with him. He said he is conducting an investigation and he said I would not be placed under arrest. He would not tell me what it is about other than to say he needs to figure out if I am doing something or if someone is doing something to me. I do not understand. Do I go there? Do I need a lawyer?

Re: Detective Called - DO I Go
The police cannot compel you to appear at the precinct unless you are under arrest. You should never voluntarily provide any information to a law enforcement agent. I would advise you to consult with an attorney as soon as possible.
Re: Detective Called - DO I Go
You do not have to participate in any way shape or form with any police investigation that the police are conducting. There are many times where various law enforcement officials use schemes to get people in the doors with no effort on their part, and arrest them on the spot.
You should run through events that have gone on in your life and you should be somewhat clear as to what this may be about - is there a warrant out for you that you may know of, or that you might believe exists out there for you? have you ever appeared in front of a criminal court? how did that turn out? warrant squads tend to work this way...
You should ABOSLUTELY consult counsel, feel free to contact my office at the email provided below or at our office directly at 2127098303

DO NOT GO.I would suggest that you contact a competent criminal defense attorney ASAP . That attorney will help review all possibilities that might exist. If an arrest is imminent that attorney can arrange for your surrender, this will keep any adverse possibilities to a minimum. I am available for a free phone consultation to help. You may call my office@7188340087 and I will further advise.
