Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

i want to drop charges against my husband

my question is How to I get an order of protection dropped or how do I get the charges dropped against my husband in a domestic violence case... Th D.a says it can't be done and I no longer want to co-operate with the d.a. who seem more concerned with a victory for themselves than my own well being and I want to reconcile with my husband... I went to the d.a's. office yesturday and was bullied agaisnt trying to file a petetion against the order of protection.. I was challenged and had my pride tested untill i was brought to tears... what can I do? I no longer want to be involved in this case... they are also forcing divorce and I am completely against that..

Re: i want to drop charges against my husband

I am sorry that the DA seems to be pushing for a divorce. It is not their decision and neither they nor any other person has the right to do that.

Your husband's lawyer can file a motion with the court to dismiss the charges. Without you, the evidence my be inadequate to support the charges.
