Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
dropping menacing charges
i was recently arrested for allegedly making a threat with a knife and was charged with menacing - the ''victim'' now has agreed to drop the charges if there is an order of protection in place. how does she go about dropping the charges? - does she need to send a letter to the DA's office or can she call the DA directly?

Re: dropping menacing charges
She can no longer "drop" the charges. The complaint states 'THE PEOPLE OF THE State of New York" VS John Doe.The DA will listen to the wishes of the victim, but will make it's own decision. You may contact my office for a further consultation.
