someone opened my email account without my knowledge or permission. They printed personal emails that they are now using against me. what action can I take against this person for this violation of privacy?

This is an "interception of an electronic communication" and is a crime.
Report the matter to the local police precinct. If you do not get satisfaction, ask to make an appointment with a DA.
You may also file a civil action, but your damages are unlikely to make this a good option.
