Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York
employment restrictions
My question is for a friend who was charged with a misdemeanor from a felony charge. Is it legal for the judge to put employment restrictions on him? It was reduced to petit larcency and 3 years probation. He paid restitution in full? Also does having a judge who once represented you as an attorney suggest conflict of interest? The judge wont allow him to work in his field or get a job handling money. please advise. Thank you in advance for your help.

As long as he is on probation, he is under control by the court. Once probation is over, the Court is acting without jurisdiction.
