Legal Question in Criminal Law in New York

My exhusband opened a joint line of credit without my knowledge or consent three years ago when we first separated. I just became aware of it a couple of months ago when I noticed it on my credit report. I've called the bank, but just keep getting transferred from one person to another, each one putting me on hold for ten minutes. I asked to have copies of the original application sent to me but was told that they would only be released to law enforcement. I emailed my ex-husband and told him that I have become aware of this account. I asked that he have my name taken off of the account and he has neither responded to me nor contacted the bank. What is my legal recourse?

You must go to your local police department and ask to file a criminal complaint against your ex husband. If you were legally seperated and you never gave him permission he committed a criminal act. Once a police report is filed the credit card company should remove your name from the card and report that it is not your negative credit to the credit agencies.
